Christmas Cheer
“When [the Wise Men] saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh (Matt 2:10-11).”
The Christmas season is one of boundless joy and expectation as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, connect with family and friends, share generous gifts, look to the end of one year, and prepare for the coming of the new year! It can be a busy time with so many Christmas activities and events in early December – it can be overwhelming!
And yet, I am reminded by the joyous Christmas movies and meetings with friends and family that this is a wonderful time to celebrate being alive – especially for Christians rejoicing on Jesus’ birthday! “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).”
So, in all the hustle and bustle, may we stop and take a few minutes each day to thank God for sending His Son, Jesus to die on the cross for our sins so that we may be reconciled to Him and have eternal life! We are greatly blessed and even in death, we win because we will get to spend eternity in Heaven with our God!
Share your joy with others- so they may also have some Christmas cheer!
