Thank You Cleaning Staff!
‘After he sat down, he called the twelve and said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be last of all and servant of all (Mark 9:35).”’
As people are attempting to return to work from the quarantine, we have to follow a new normal - one where many people are wearing masks and we are extra careful to clean every surface. We have new terms like “social distancing” and no longer shake hands. Following these guidelines are good for our health and not spreading germs. In the Old Testament, many of the laws in Leviticus were given to keep the Israelites healthy and to keep from spreading germs. The idea is good, as long as we do not allow it to create fear in our lives so much that we do not go anywhere or do anything. God did not give us a spirit of fear, but a sound mind to do what we can and trust Him for the rest (2 Timothy 1:7)!
I want to give a shout out to a group of people who have taken on extra burdens during this pandemic but are rarely mentioned for it. We all have given praise to those who work in the hospitals regularly – the nurses and doctors. We thank the first-responders, but who has thanked the cleaners? Many work places have put new cleaning standards into place to deal with the crisis. Our cleaning staff at my school has taken on more responsibility to clean all the doors and high touch areas of our offices daily. This is a job they probably did once a week before, but has now been made critical to keep germs from spreading. It is a dirty job, one most of us hate to take on – cleaning! So, to all cleaning staff around the world – thank you for your time and effort to help wipe out these bad germs and keeping us all safe! You are the greatest among us for your service!~
