Magnify the Lord
My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together! – (Ps 24:2-3 ESV)
It is that time of year when we begin all of the celebrations – offering thanks to God for a great year as we slide into Christmas and celebrate the birth of Christ before preparing to celebrate a new year! I am reminded to “enter His gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! (Ps 100:4).”
Let us take this time to magnify the greatness of God and downplay everything else around us. Forget the drama of the season and all of the busyness involved. Think of a magnifying glass that we use to be able to see something small – we make it bigger. The object itself has not changed size, only our perception or ability to view the object has changed. When we focus on our fears and those things around us, we make them bigger than they really should be…Our God is greater and able to take care of us. Let us meditate on the goodness of God and everything else will fall into place!
God is love (1 Jn 4:8). He created us and is constantly watching over us (Gen 1; Rom 8:39). He sent His Son, Jesus to die for our sins that we may be able to have a relationship with Him (Jn 3:16-17). Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit who now dwells in us to lead and guide us to spiritual maturity (Jn 14:16-17; 1 Cor 6:19-20). Even though we may go through rough times, we have a God who is with us and never leaves us! We have so much to be thankful for!
So let’s remember to take time to offer thanks and praise to God in this season of Celebration!~
