Nature Walk & Spiritual Journey

Let's go on a nature walk this Summer!

“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, ‘Where are you (Genesis 3:8-9)?’”

Have you had time this summer to take a walk in nature? Either go to a local park, lake, mountain or ocean? Summer is a time when many people take vacations and often have a little time to enjoy God’s nature. While taking time to enjoy God’s creation this summer – reflect on your life and speak with God: “where are you on your spiritual journey?”

Ray Vander Laan explains the concept of walking with God and the life journey in his workbook, Discovery Guide: In the Dust of the Rabbi: “Walking was such an important part of life [in biblical times] that the practice of expressing truth concretely, in story or word picture, led to images of walking becoming a significant metaphor for a person’s life or lifestyle. Thus in biblical terminology, the way you live is your ‘walk.’ The passage through time is your walk on the path. Life is a journey – a walk with or without God (Vander Laan, 66).”

We are all at different places in our journeys and yet, we still need to hear from God as we progress. I hope you will take a nature walk to allow a change of pace in your busy lives and a chance to quietly commune with God in a different environment – God’s world is beautiful – and His creation is “good!” He created this world for us to enjoy, walking in His presence and ministering in His kingdom! May you continue to progress on your spiritual journey ever becoming more like Jesus every day! So, let's take a nature walk and enjoy God!
